Hung Up On Madonna

"I want to rule the world!" - - Madonna on American Bandstand, 1984
That clever soundbyte has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Madonna is set to take over the world. In the coming months we'll all be living in a Material World and that suits me just fine. Apple, iTunes, Motorola, Cingular and Madonna are all in cahoots to promote the new Motorola ROKR. It's a really cool looking mobile phone meets iPod gadget.
She's been reluctant to enter the digital market along with other heavweights such as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin but that no longer seems to be the case. Her entire digital catalog is available exclusively at various international iTunes music stores. Her previous endeavors into the digital music market were when she released the title track off of her album American Life through her own website.
The new Motorola commercial features Madonna, Iggy Pop, Little Richard, Alanis Morrissette, Mya, Bootsy Collins, Common, etc. There are also some lookalikes of Beethoven and Biggie Smalls included. All of the stars pile into a phone booth. The commercial is set to the tune of Madonna's first single "Hung Up" off of her new album Confessions On A Dancefloor. It's a really good song. It samples ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)."
Here are the lyrics to "Hung Up":

HUNG UP

"Time goes by so slowly ( repeated 6 times)

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun
I'm caught up
I don't know what to do

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
I don't know what to do

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Ring ring ring goes the telephone
The lights are on but there's no-one home
Tick tick tock it's a quarter to two
And I'm done
I'm hanging up on you

I can't keep on waiting for you
I know that you're still hesitating
Don't cry for me
'cause I'll find my way
you'll wake up one day
but it'll be too late

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you"

Madonna is looking stunning as usual when she was photographed shooting a Motorola commercial in London at Shepperton Studios. The Material Mom, still recovering from her recent horse riding accident, is also putting the finishing touches on her upcoming new CD "Confessions on a Dance Floor" which is scheduled to be released on Warner Bros. Records in November.
